I saw a Louis Vuitton bag today that didn’t make me cringe, in fact, it was really cute! One of my book club girlfriends got a shimmering pearl gray Olympe Nimbus bag for Christmas and though I have seen it in print and on other sites all season I really did not give it much thought because you all know I am not a LV fan. In person, however, the bag is truly adorable. Soft and plushy , it is lightweight and curved so it fits perfectly against the body. The shoulder strap had seemed bulky to me in photos but it is actually flat on the bottom so it hangs on your shoulder securely without any slip and slide annoyance! The logos are not prominent and being ruched, you can’t even tell it says LV unless you are a die hard trendoid fashionista that can spot and name a Louis Vuitton bag from a mile away. Even the subtle ruffles are girly and fun, not obnoxious at all. There is also the PM (petite size around 12″) if you are not into giant bags as the GM is 19.7″.I can’t believe I am actually gushing about a Louis Vuittong bag… And before you rag on it, go hug it at a Louis Vuitton boutique- one stroke of the the buttery soft leather and you will want to adopt it too. $2,550 As a side note, my book club should really be renamed the “Bag” club. I think we spent all of 5 minutes discussing the book of the month (Ken Follet’s Pillars of the Earth) and what was said was “Who knew it was 900 pages?” “It’s full of really difficult words you know.” “We’re going to need a dictionary to finish the book.” “It may take all year.” “That is if we are smart enough to actually finish.” After that, most of our lunch was devoted to the groovy bags everyone had. Let’s see, Christine is the lucky girl with the LV Olympe above, Julie carried a lovely turquoise Hermes Kelly in 25cm, Kim (a total Bag Snob herself) toted a new 25cm Hermes birkin in etoupe lizard (can you say jealous!?!?), sweet Janet sported a monogrammed Goyard and I can not remember what Robin had but I am sure it was Chanel and fabulous.
