Great Tips On How To Buy Jewelry

Jewelry is a time-honored way of expressing yourself, and can be used to evoke emotion. Even the most delicate pieces of jewelry are special gifts that will be appreciated by their recipient. Whether you intend to keep a piece yourself or give it to someone special, the tips presented below might teach you something new about jewelry.

If you cannot afford that dream wedding ring, try buying smaller and then upgrading it later. When you have a significant timeline anniversary or another special occasion, the ring could be upgraded at that time. Sometimes, a jeweler will buy back your original ring, allowing you to make a better purchase.

Shop the sales to get great jewelry on a budget. If the deal is good, you may be able to save some serious money! Look for the best promotions and sales on the Internet, in your local paper, on television ads, and even in storefront windows. Consider buying something that is out of style to get a better deal.

If your rings are loose, it is best if you remove them before washing dishes, doing laundry or taking a shower or bath. Any time you are working with soap and water, it is very easy for your rings to slide right off.

Steam saunas and dry ones are very much included. Extreme moisture and heat can seriously damage the piece.

Give the jewelry a little test drive and wear it for a little bit to see if it is comfortable and lays right. This can also help you see whether the piece is durable enough to last.

You should have a good idea about the costs associated with diamonds before you venture out to make a purchase. Finding the right diamond can make you emotional. It is easy to lose yourself in the moment and forget about your budget.

Keep your jewelry pieces looking beautiful by protecting them from tarnish. Do not wear jewelery around water. Lots of jewelry materials are dulled or tarnished by water exposure. If you want to give your jewelry a measure of protection from this element, coat it thinly with clear nail polish.

Before purchasing a new pieces, look at the latest jewelry trends. The only thing that beats getting a new piece of jewelry is getting it for a discounted price!

This article has revealed how jewelry can be used as an ideal accessory to compliment your wardrobe. There are such a wide variety of types and styles that you can look professional and elegant, or casual and fun. Build up a collection of good jewelry to ensure that you can enhance whatever look you want to achieve when you dress yourself.

Exclusive Katherine Kwei Joyce Carry-All Bag

Sometimes it is hard for me to believe that Katherine Kwei’s handbag line is still in its infancy. After all, the collection was launched just two short years ago. But with all the posts I have seen over at TBF about these handbags, I certainly wouldn’t have known it. Even Jennifer was bitten with the Katherine Kwei bug. I know of at least one bag from this designer that has made its way into her own, personal collection. It turns out, however, that Katherine Kwei isn’t just new to the world of handbags — she is new to Luna Boston as well! And check out this beauty they currently have available for Pre-Order. It’s called the Katherine Kwei Joyce Carry-All. This gorgeous handbag has given the fringe trend a much more refined look. The knotted fringe detail is so elegant and chic. Normally when I think of fringe, I think hippie. However, this beauty is anything BUT hippie! Dress it up or dress it down, it is totally unique and yet perfect for every day use! And the color is absolutely to die for! Of course, I have always been a bit partial to anything teal/turquoise. But I think it looks so lovely on this bag, especially when it is paired with the silvery accents. The Katherine Kwei Joyce Carry-All measures 18″ x 11″ x 6″ and it comes with a 24″ long, adjustable strap. Find it in Teal, Brown, or Black at Luna Boston. It retails for $625.The Chat: Kwei Joyce!

Emilio Pucci Large Printed Canvas Tote

I was thrilled when I ran into this tote bag by Emilio Pucci, thank goodness for prints this fall.A while back I mentioned to you Bagista’s one of the latest pieces to hit the Pucci rack, it was this not so pretty Emilio Pucci Denim Bag. How could I have doubted the House of Pucci, of course they we’re going to feed us some fun and modern prints for the coming season.Vibrant golds with classic black prints are found on the Large Printed Canvas Tote. The prints create an illusion of oversized florals and the distressed appearance creates a vintage vibe to this tote. Besides the updated prints the bag itself seems to have a new look to it. The common canvas Pucci tote lacked the zipped top and exterior pockets that can be found on this newbie, and of course, theirs no complaining to that.Although this piece is not yet available for sale (you can pre-order it instead), I won’t be looking forward to obtaining this tote bag for fall. It’s the cheery colors and flower prints that screams summer to me, as I’d rather give into a luscious dark leather bag with studs instead. If you don’t mind these prints for fall, this newbie retails at $550 and can be purchased: Here @ SaksFifthAvenueThe Chat: Pucci Tote!

Marc Jacobs Studded Stardust Cecilia Satchel

Marc Jacobs has done it again by bringing us another beautiful Cecilia Satchel. This time the satchel is purple and studded. The bag is absolutely gorgeous, but it would of been better if I discovered this bad when the “stud trend” was at it’s height. I’ve always said though, not to follow trends and wear whatever you want at any moment. If you love studs, then you most likely will love this purse.I love this bag, but I think if it came in black with gold studs it would look even more fabulous! Plus, you can match a black handbag with just about anything, whereas you can’t with purple.I think the style and shape of this bag are absolutely amazing, but looks can be deceiving. By looking at the picture of the handbag, I would think that the bag is pretty big, and spacious. When in reality, as soon as you turn the bag to the side you can see how it’s not very wide. It’s obvious you wouldn’t be able to fit much of anything in this bag. Perhaps you could fit your keys, makeup bag, wallet and I’m not sure what else. If this bag was a little wider, it would be perfect! The Marc Jacobs Studded Stardust Cecilia Satchel can be purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue for $1,475, which is a normal price for Marc Jacobs bags. Beautiful bag, I just wish it came in black!See the Marc Jacobs Studded Stardust Cecilia Satchel at: Saks Fifth AvenueThe Chat: Marc Jacobs Stardust!

L.A.M.B. Dorset Barcellon

I love the color black and I love clutches and together they make one hot accessory. I’m absolutely in love with the L.A.M.B. “Dorset Barcellon” , it’s stunning and definitely one of my favorite clutches I have ever seen.I think what caught my eye about this clutch is simply the black and white coloring featured on the clutch. A majority of the leather is black and it’s accented by a single white stripe down the middle of the clutch. I wear mostly all black and white clothes. No I’m not morbid, but something about black and white clothes is stylish to me. When you wear black and white clothes constantly, it’s exciting to see a clutch that matches your wardrobe perfectly! The clutch fits perfectly under your arm and would look amazing with any outfit. It’s labeled in the description on Zappos as an evening clutch but I highly disagree. I think you can carry this clutch around day or night and it will look fabulous either way. For some reason though, I envision it looking amazing with black leggings. Something about this clutch screams leggings to me, but of course that’s just my opinion. It’s a gorgeous clutch and I’m definitely considering purchasing it!The L.A.M.B. “Dorset Barcellon” can be purchased at Zappos for $229, which is a great price for this clutch if you ask me! L.A.M.B. bags are never on the “low side” , so to see this clutch under $500 is amazing! I know I definitely want to add this clutch to my clutch! Do you?See the L.A.M.B. “Dorset Barcellon” at: ZapposThe Chat: LAMB Dorset!

Treesje Port Travel Tote

Brand new for Fall 2009, I present to you the Treesje Port Travel Tote! This lovely tote features unique, debossed port detailing. Who says anchors are a Spring-only motif? I really like the tone-on-tone effect it creates, it is definitely not something you would see every day. And, of course, I just love that gunmetal color. So pretty and perfect for Fall! It’s such a versatile color too, you could wear it with just about anything. So why were my eyes so drawn to this tote? I mean, besides the fact I think it’s gorgeous. Will the lovely bRs be taking a trip sometime soon? This tote certainly would make a great overnight bag, but I have another idea in store for this bag. I’m suspecting that the Treesje Port Travel Tote could easily double as a work tote. It’s certainly large enough (17.5″ x 14″ x 6.5″) and it even comes with a detachable shoulder strap. This tote could easily hold a laptop computer and computer sleeve, along with a few folders or binders. And it would look so smart paired with a fitted, black wool coat and sexy leather boots. So check this baby out and see why so many TBFer’s are crazy for Treesje! The Treesje Port Travel Tote retails for $575. Find it at Luna Boston! The Chat: treesje port!

Marc by Marc Jacobs “Miss Marc” Hobo

I’ve never been a fan of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc collection. Something about Miss Marc has never been appealing to me, or fashionable. I must admit though, that I’m eating my words today. I came across the Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc “Small Hobo” today, and I think it’s adorable!I personally don’t care for the color of the bag too much. I’m all about matching my handbags and shoes with my outfit, and I have no purple clothes in my wardrobe. If this bag was available in black, I probably would of snatched one up!In the listing they call this bag a “hobo?” I’m not sure I would label in a hobo, because to me it looks more like a messenger bag. Whatever you want to label it, I do believe this would be a great school bag for a teenager or college student. By the looks of the picture above, it does seem like this bag is spacious. It looks like it’s wide enough to fit school books, notebook, and even a lap top/netbook inside it.As for Miss Marc, she doesn’t look so bad this time. I usually never like the way she looks, but I gotta admit she looks pretty stylish this time around. The Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc “Small Hobo” can be purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue for $168, which is an amazing price for this bag. It’s not everyday you see a designer bag at that price! It’s a great price for such a cute bag!See the Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc “Small Hobo” at: Saks Fifth AvenueThe Chat: miss marc!

Nancy Gonzalez Handbags & Purses

It is no secret that I love, love, love exotics. I never stop obsessing over the latest and greatest examples. Walking into a Nancy Gonzalez boutique is like the world’s best candy store for me. Beautiful colors and texture and the totally unique aspect of every single bag draws me in. Her collection includes 150 different styles and over 200 colors. A veritable rainbow of luxury. The designer is a native Columbian who looks to her rich colorful country and resources for inspiration and materials. In my humble opinion, a Nancy Gonzalez handbag should be one to which every bagista should aspire to have in her collection! With so many options, what’s a girl to choose? A basic clutch beginning in the $900 range or a major piece that tops out at over $4,000? A beautiful bright color or basic neutrals such as black or brown? It’s such a personal choice, I’m going to leave that up to you to decide and simply showcase one of my (current) favorites!Right now, I’m loving sapphire blue handbags ranging from cobalt to deep navy. I’m looking away from my obsession with hobos to more ladylike styling. I’m still loving the oversize bag though, it’s hard to go small for any length of time in my world. So, the Crocodile Bowler Top Handle Bag in denim is the perfect bag for me!The lady-like styling with over-sized and rounded shape softens it just enough to make the bowler perfect for casual denim days to dressy Jackie-O shift dresses. I love the beautiful color because it is more than black or brown yet remains neutral enough to wear with practically any color. Who wouldn’t want to travel with a luxurious exotic piece of luggage?Today is the day that Nancy Gonzalez launched her first ever crocodile travel collection, exclusively sold at Bergdorf Goodman. The 11 piece exotic collection includes passport holders, hat boxes, trolley’s, ipad sleeves and other accessories.Like all other bags by Nancy Gonzalez, the travel collection is made with superior craftsmanship and of course only the best exotic leathers. Her pieces are such an investment. Sure the price tag may be a little steep, but for the Nancy Gonzalez lover on your holiday list, this is the perfect gift. The Nancy Gonzalez Travel Collection is only available in store at Bergdorf Goodman. Here’s a sampling of the prices:iPad case $1800Passport Holders $425Crocodile and Pony Trolley $6125Crocodile Trolley $7500Crocodile Carry On Trolley $6500

Halston Heritage Handbags Now Available at Net-A-Porter!

It is sometimes hard to believe that Halston‘s ticket to fame came when the company’s founder, Roy Halston Frowick, designed the pillbox hat Jacqueline Kennedy wore to her husband’s 1961 presidential inauguration. The company today, with London-based designer Marios Schwab currently holding the creative reins, is most famous for its sensual dresses and simple, yet chic handbag designs. Many fashionistas find themselves longing for the effortless glamor that only Halston can deliver. Unfortunately, most Halston pieces lie far beyond the reach of an average gal’s budget. But not to worry ladies! In case you haven’t already heard, this legendary label just recently launched a diffusion line. Introducing Halston Heritage! It is through this line that the company will be reinventing some of its archive pieces and marketing them at a lower price point. Wait… the effortlessly elegant silhouettes of Halston at prices we all can afford? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me!So what are my favorite pieces so far? I absolutely love the Metallic Night Shoulder Bag ($285) and Sequined Evening Frame Clutch ($195) that you see pictured here! Both are just so lovely and perfect for an evening out! I really love how these simple designs were paired with some sort of sparkly adornment. So pretty!Find these and other Halston Heritage handbags (and dresses too!) at NET-A-PORTER! Mulberry Handbags & Purses

Mulberry Travel Bagsby BrSMay 27, 2011 It’s that time of year again! Vacations, vacations, vacations! It seems like everyone is planning their big summer vacation. And what do you need for your vacation? Luggage to carry all your essentials for some fun in the sun, of course! When it comes to designer luggage, however, I often find myself with some very mixed feelings. On the one hand, it’s designer luggage! Haha! But on the other hand, it’s designer luggage. Please don’t let anything bad happen to it! Yep, designer luggage can be awesome but you don’t want it to be so outrageously expensive that you’re afraid to use it. That’s why I am really liking these affordable travel bags and luggage pieces from Mulberry! These pieces are constructed of super tough scotchgrain leather, so you know they are going to be durable. Plus, they are plain enough that my husband wouldn’t be embarrassed holding onto them for me at the airport. I love cute prints on my luggage just as much as the next girl, but I can understand why he would feel weird standing there with a logo-loaded piece while I’m using the restroom. Below you will find a few pieces from the collection, check them out! Mulberry Bengal Tiger Alexaby Jenni MorenoApr 29, 2011 I absolutely love going to the zoo and seeing all the different animals, especially the Tiger and Lion exhibits. So when I saw this new version of the Mulberry Alexa was made to resemble the Bengal Tiger print, I was beyond interested in taking a second peek. I really do adore the classic everyday style of the Alexa, but the Bengal Tiger calf hair is a bit much for me.I don’t by any means have any sort of problem with the fact that this bag is made of calf hair, I love pony hair and exotic bags, but just not on this bag. I love the classic leather version, which by the way retails for only $1150, one third the price of the $3,370.95 Bengal Tiger Version.

Foley + Corinna Drawstring Hobo

I have always like Foley + Corinna handbags. But lately, I have been feeling kind of disappointed in their designs. I mean, come on! Metal mesh? Ick! In my opinion, the Foley + Corinna brand is at its best when they stick with a classic shape and a solid colored leather. It truly is the formula for perfection! That’s why I really like the Foley + Corinna Drawstring Pouch Hobo!I love the classic hobo shape combined with a drawstring closure, giving the appearance of heavy pleating. Plus the cords from the drawstring hang down like cute little tassels when the bag is drawn up tight. This bag also has another feature that I really love — exterior pockets! Located on the sides of the bag (= quick and easy access), these vertical zip pockets are the perfect place to hold your keys and cell phone. That’s right, there will be no desperate fishing for that ringing cell phone with this lovely bag! And, to top it all off, this bag is also versatile in its wear. It comes with a longer, detachable shoulder strap just in case you grow tired of carrying this bag by its shorter handle. This would definitely make a great daytime bag!The Foley + Corinna Drawstring Hobo is currently available in either Indigo (shown) or Camel: Foley and Corinna Handbags at Bloomingdales!Or find it in Black or Carmel Here at ShopBop! Lena Erziak Andrea Hobo Bag

There is simply so much talent and creativity in the world of handbag designers that it is truly a blessing to be able to talk about some of the newer designers offering future classics! Lena Erziak is a fantastic brand which features striking designs, a stunning range of colors and quality fabrications. The product of sisters Leona and Hasna Erziak with a multi-cultural background of a Belgian Moroccan family of artists including a seamstress and a potter. The process of design and understanding of construction was simply something they absorbed during their childhood. The sisters developed their line in Italy, utilizing on the finest craftsman and materials. Their first collections focus attention on interior and exterior finish, different shapes and sizes to complete a refined and luxurious collection of handbags. The epitome of this effort is the Andrea shoulder hobo handbag. The Andrea takes a classic and casual shape to the next level of sophistication. The sleek silhouette features well-balanced dimensions with a handle that is designed to be more comfortable in the hand than some other hobos might be. A rectangular flap closure accented with gold logo plate is just the right size to not be difficult to use and provides a classic element. The angled zippered pockets create a striking design feature and accessibility to the most important items you carry like your phone or credit cards. The oversized tassle element creates instant visual “punch” and movement. The interior is fully lined with a hidden coin pocket and key organizer. You’ll appreciate it’s roomy but not overly large size of 13″ x 12″ x 2″. While I love this beautiful cream color, it is also available in a yummy blue or purple suede. And the colors are rich and vibrant! Their bags are available at Stella Filante as the retail location. 156 Ludlow St, NY NY as well as other locations! Check out their other styles Chat: Lena Erziak Andrea!

Burberry Continental Wallets in new hues

The world recognizable check pattern by the House of Burberry has been revived with a splash of color for their classic wallets collection. Just like every other Continental wallet out there, there is no doubt that this piece is simply perfect. Roomy enough to carry your multiple credit and store cards, change, bills and more, you can’t go wrong with any a handy continental.My first designer wallet I obtained was in fact a check zip Burberry wallet. At that time, I had a choice of two leather colors to choose from to line my check canvas, and they were the basics of black and brown.Today you can take your pick on Emerald, Mustard, Military Red or Plum. I personally like the idea of adding a bright splash of color to this classic print, and many designer houses have committed to similar projects.My only complaint would be that a color should compliment a piece, not make it look questionable as if it’s authentic or not. Don’t hate me green fans, but I feel like a stronger green would have been a better choice than bright emerald for the check print. But regardless of your color preference, the fact remains that you can’t go wrong with either one of these Burberry pieces.Discover the wallets by shopping through Bloomingdales.Shop the Burberry Boutique at Bloomingdales!#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 50%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Handbag Stories: my bag sighting of the week

The cross body style trend is so huge for summer, but there is a con to this style that you need to be aware of.Earlier this week I witnessed one of the biggest wardrobe malfunction bloopers that could happen. True story..Imagine this: If you’re familiar with Downtown Seattle then you’re going to know exactly where I’m talking about. I was sitting in my car in downtown, on a somewhat busy 4-way street around lunch hour, inbetween Nordstrom and Barney’s. The light just turned red and the crosswalk signs lit up. I came to a stop, and the sheep herd crowd stepped onto the crosswalk. I was front of the line at this point, just sitting there listening to my music as I waited for the light to turn green. When all of a sudden, a girl walked right in front of me with her dress bunched-up, revealing her bottom. Just like in that Tampax commercial! Only from what I could tell in that 10 seconds she was in my sight, nobody said anything. The culprit: her bag! The length of her bag was so long that the body of her bag rested on her hip, causing it to bunch up. Which should serve as in important caution about cross body bags and if you’re wearing a skirt – the bag doesn’t need to reach down to your bum.Pictured above: All can be found at Net-a-PorterDKNY Crossbody Bag – $325See by Chloé Cherry Mini – $335Mulberry Antony Bag – $395

PRADA MADE IN

Prada has a created a unique global luxury capsule collection that honors Mario Prada and his quest to?collaborate with exquisite artisans to produce modern, innovative designs utilizing the traditional techniques of a specific region.In the early decades of the twentieth century, Miuccia Prada’s grandfather, the visionary Mario Prada, travelled the world in tireless pursuit of ideas and inspiration. His goal was not only to discover the most luxurious materials, exotic skins and sumptuous fabrics, but also to locate sophisticated craftsmen and manufacturers to realize his revolutionary designs. His adventures uncovered Alsatian and Austrian leatherwork, Bohemian crystals, Asian “galuscià”, English silver-smithing, as well as rare ivory, tortoiseshell, ebony and precious stones from every corner of the globe. Mario Prada became the ultimate gentleman-connoisseur: a man of exquisite taste and unflagging curiosity who knew exactly how, where, and by whom, a specific design could be perfectly produced. This spirit of the curious connoisseur remains at the heart of Prada, especially in the age of globalization, where geographic and cultural borders disappear. Remaining faithful to these ideals, the company continues to identify those specialized craftspeople that represent an unrivaled standard of excellence.The collections are identified by a special “Prada Made In” label dedicated to each country of origin: Tartan wool kilts from Scotland; collection of handmade embroidery flats, sandals and bags from India; Jeans produced by Dova (worlds highest rated denim manufacter) that come custom ordered in four different varieties of cloth and seven different washes from Japan; Alpaca wool knitwear from Peru.Pictures below…#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Balenciaga Neo Militaire Bag

The military trend was pretty big for Fall this year. It seemed like everyone was trying to get in on it, with some wonderful pieces (handbags included) as a result. But is it just me? Or does it look like the military trend is winding down? Well, apparently nobody told Balenciaga that! A little late in the game is the Balenciaga Neo Militaire Bag! It is an interesting piece that, in my opinion, is more functional than it is stylish.There is no doubt though that the Balenciaga Neo Militaire Bag was meant to go in with the military trend. Just look at the name! But, for some reason, I’m just not feeling this one. The bag is composed of grainy black and smooth green leather, not something you would normally expect from this designer. The front of the bag is adorned with pockets, zippers, and snaps… nothing too spectacular. But here’s something interesting! This bag can be worn either as a satchel or as a backpack! And wow, those are some heavy duty shoulder straps! They are heavily padded and ready to hold quite a load. I can’t say this is my favorite Balenciaga style, but at least it has some versatility going for it. And who knows, maybe it would make an awesome bag for school (ignoring the price tag, of course).Find the Balenciaga Neo Militaire Bag at MyTheresa, where it sells for approximately $2,070.#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Color Trend Alert: Lime Green Handbags

I realize that we haven’t even gotten past Christmas yet, but it’s never too early to think about Spring (at least for me anyway)! And what better way to think about Spring than a nice Spring-y color on a handbag? Let’s see, what would be a good color? Ah yes, Lime Green! It’s the perfect color for putting a little spring in your step! But don’t worry about looking out-of-season in the middle of Winter. As my fellow TBFer Jess pointed out, Lime Green is the hot color for Christmas this year as well. It looks so fresh in that classic red-green combo! And it will look just as fresh with your Winter wardrobe and carry you all the way into Spring! So give Lime Green a chance, you will find that it looks stunning on a handbag! Just check out these beauties I have pictured below!Diane von Furstenberg Belle Ruffle Evening Bag in CitronNothing screams DVF more than something that sits a little bit outside of the box! I love the cute ruffles adorning the front side of this clutch. Plus the studded leather trim adds just enough edge so you don’t feel overwhelmed with “fluff”. 3.1 Phillip Lim Berry Stud Wristlet

Don’t miss out on the sale that everyone is talking about! Over at Net-a-Porter they added a few more items -clothing, bags, shoes and more- to the sale section, plus they reduced prices on all sale items by an extra 20% off. Some of the items are marked 60% off retail. The madness. This is your last chance to score some deals before they sell out (going fast!) or move inventory over to NAP’s sister discount site TheOutnet.Did you find anything at the sale?Visit net-a-porter’s sale section.

3.1 Phillip Lim has come up with some interesting looking bags lately.  My favorite being, of course, the Edie Bow Bag (okay, not a brand new  style, but still pretty darn cool!). But here’s something that I don’t  normally think of when I think of this line — a wristlet! Introducing  the 3.1 Phillip Lim Studded Berry Wristlet! It’s a tiny package that  packs quite a punch!Oddly, if it wasn’t for the all-over studs having a distinctive cone  shape, I would have sworn that this wristlet was one of Alexander Wang’s  creations. After all, he really likes to crowd the surface of a bag  with lots and lots of chunky studs! But you know what, I think Lim does  the whole stud thing pretty well. They are the same kind of studs found  on my beloved Edie Bow Bag, but they are arranged in a tight grid  pattern.All of this on a slightly metallic, silver suede background!  Pretty! And if you’re not in the mood for a funky wristlet, you can  remove the strap and use this baby as a compact wallet. Duel zip-around  compartments conceal credit card slots, bill compartments, and a coin  pocket. Everything you would find in a regular wallet (minus, perhaps, a  checkbook cover) can be found right here! Perfect for a minimalist’s  night out or a fun surprise inside your everyday handbag!Find the 3.1 Phillip Lim Studded Berry Wristlet at SSense!#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Stella & Jamie Sue Fringe Bag

It’s time for a bit of fun — fun with fringe that is! And nothing would fit the bill better than a fringed handbag! No matter what style, they are one of the most playful accessories you can own! My favorites, of course, being those with mountains and mountains of fringe (e.g. JJ Winters). But if the thought of an all-over fringe bag sounds a bit suffocating to you, then there are definitely some great alternatives out there. I recently stumbled across a gorgeous bag with all the benefits of fringe, but it won’t weigh you down quite so much. Check out the Sue Fringe Bag from Stella and jamie! This lovely leather bag features a classic hobo shape. It is slouchy and casual, yet simple and chic. The modest design is liven up though, thanks to a simple sweep of fringe running along the lower edge of the bag on each side. Plus the peek-a-boo pyramid studs on the ends add just the right amount of flair.I love the length of this bag too, which makes it really stand out. The bag itself hits just below the hip, but the fringe reaches clear down past the knees! This beautiful piece definitely makes a statement! It would look great paired with some tall boots and same-shade scarf (à la Kourtney Kardashian)!Discover the Stella & Jamie Sue Fringe Bag at Singer22! It is available in Camel right now, but Black is available for pre-order.

Olivia Wilde Style: Judith Leiber ‘Starburst’

Turquoise is one of those colors that I will never get sick of! Especially when it comes to accessories. I absolutely love the bright eye-catching shade and now that it’s spring, almost summer something tells me were going to be seeing a lot more of this color.Ashley Greene recently photographed at Vancouver International airport dressed in Juicy Couture and carrying the MIU MIU turquoise matelassé leather bag from the Spring Summer 2011 collection. Now locating the turquoise Matelasse.. I couldn’t find this color anywhere online yet, however net-a-porter has a pretty big collection of other colors. Discover the Miu Miu Boutique at Net-a-Porter!

House fans, how happy were you to see the return of Thirteen played by Olivia Wilde? I for one was pretty excited about that!Recently Olivia popped up at the Tribeca Film Festival, looking stunning with the Judith Leiber “Starburst” in Silver with Black Stone in hand.I searched around and could not find this bag available online. CC Skye 1945 Bullet Bag

Who doesn’t like vintage handbags? Digging around in grandma’s closet can lead to all sorts of wonderful treasures! So glamorous and sophisticated, there is just something about vintage handbags that make you feel like one chic little fashonista! This feeling is also really hard to match, there really is no comparison. Well… until now! Meet The 1945 Bullet Bag from CC Skye! This bag may not be vintage, but its vintage-inspired style will definitely give you that vintage glam feeling! What I love most about this bag is its classic trapezoid shape and double frame closure. See that large lock perched on top? Each side of the lock opens one side of the divided interior. I guess that makes this bag classy AND organized! I also love the glazed, snake-embossed leather. It prevents this style from looking to “Plain Jane”. Plus the optional shoulder strap offers some extra versatility! It definitely looks the most glam when held in hand, but it is always nice to have that shoulder strap available just in case you find your hands full! Pair this classic beauty with a dressy blouse and black cigarette pants or pencil skirt. Feeling a bit more casual? Try pairing it with a pair of this season’s floaty shorts! The CC Skye The 1945 Bullet Bag can be found at ShopBop, where it is available in Black Python!

Fendi Forever Hobo

The joy of warm weather brings the prettiest handbags to the sales racks. Prints, floral and vibrant colors are always attractive in every brand, but when you have a high-end designer piece sporting a striking shade of color, it is practical to want to adapt it as your one and only summer splurge. Fendi has one of the most attractive pieces I have seen this season, greet the ‘Forever’ Metallic Calfskin Hobo by the Italian House. This style carries a large body that is slouchy-squared, in a gorgeous shade of metallic magenta leather. The next feature after the color that caught my attention was the adjustable lengthy flat straps that allow this piece to be worn on the lower division of the body. Think cute messenger style or long bohemian chic look. Fendi made sure to emphasize on these straps by inserting the attractive detailing of embellished chain links. Lately, the oversized metal logo has been a popular hit, and its definitely not lacking here. The appealing double F’s feature a magnetic closure and enameled filling that resembles a true gem. Fendi did a lively job with this glam bag, as any true fan would definitely approve of this as uplifting. You can find this pretty through the online shops of: Fendi Boutique at Nordstrom!

Il Bisonte Handbags

Wanny Di Filippo, an eclectic Italian designer, has a passion for bison. It is so intense that he owns over 1000 of them as expressed through sculpture, drawings, engravings and other objects. His love is so deep that he named his line of handbags and accessories Il Bisonte. With stores worldwide, I only recently discovered his line via the luxury website, Luisa Via Roma.With so much interested in structured bags, studded, fringed, over-sized and a plethora of other treatments, it was refreshing to see a line that is uncluttered, pure, chic and supple as many of his bags are done. Oh, there’s an ode to the wild west and his passion for bison, but mostly, you will see clean design, and essential materials of luxurious cowhide, cotton canvas and more.The natural cowhides are vegetable tanned and develop a patina over time unique to each user and it’s uses. Think Louis Vuitton vachetta handles that become more rich over time. If you are on of the few who dislike aged, uneven, well-loved leather like this, then read no more. For the rest of you who appreciate the beauty of this material, then you’ll be very excited by this line.While somewhat evocative of the Old West, pictures of Wild Bill Hickock and Annie Oakley popped into my head when I first saw the collection. Taken on their own, there are plenty of simple, chic styles that go way beyond the Wild Wild West. I dearly love the mini cross-body for running errands and the Shoulder Bag is a true workhorse (pardon the pun) for those who need to lug around a laptop or ipad, extra pair of shoes and much more.While you can order or shop (in store) for bags of various colors and sizes, most of the offerings on Luisa Via Roma are simple tanned cowhide. With easy-on-the-budget pricing, selection ranges from a mini limited edition Simple Bag cross body for $164 (also in white LOVE it!!) to a large Vachetta Shoulder Bag for $795. A limited edition calfskin ponyhair bag with fringing for $301 is made exclusively for Luisa Via Roma. My personal favorite is the simple Calfskin Shoulder Bag for $425 with it’s softly rounded shape.See these and other selections at LUISAVIAROMA or pop into an store in your area!#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Reese Witherspoon Style: Chloe Marcie Hobo

I am normally a fan of Reese Witherspoon’s style. Her everyday look is casual and care-free, sometimes with a little bit of boho mixed in. When I saw this photo, however, I was taken aback just a little bit. I suppose the blue and white woven top isn’t so bad by itself. It is those white jeans that are throwing me off. The outfit looks too matchy-matchy, as if the pieces came together as a set. But I suppose I can forgive her. After all, her taste in handbags appears to be completely unaffected. Check out that gorgeous bag on her arm! It is the Chloe Marcie Hobo!I have probably said this before, but I will say it again. You can never go wrong with a great hobo! And this is one great hobo! I love the structured crescent shape, it really makes this piece stand out. The horseshoe-shaped flap front adds a nice touch, hiding an exterior pocket in the process. I also love the wrapped handle, which can be worn over the shoulder or carried in hand. An investment piece for sure, but it is something that can go just about everywhere! It can even be worn with white jeans!Discover the Chloe Marcie Hobo at NET-A-PORTER where it is available in Black, Nut, or Teal!

Michael Kors Ostrich Embossed Gia

As the Fall season draws nearer, I’m finding myself becoming more and more depressed. I can’t help it, I’m just not a Fall/Winter girl. What I need is a little pick-me-up. And I know exactly what will do the trick! Rather than switching to an all Fall color palette, I propose adding a pop of the unexpected. My eye is on hot pink at the moment. It is so not a Fall color, but I think it looks great paired with all the browns, oranges, and burgundies of the season. That’s why I am loving the Michael Kors Ostrich Embossed Gia in Neon Pink! This really is a beautiful bag! The highly structured shape is contrasted by the super bright color and rich ostrich texture. It’s sophisticated enough for everyday, yet it’s anything but boring! Plus you get some organization, thanks to a zippered divider inside the main compartment. Perfect for the gal who likes to keep her stuff neat and tidy. Pink is such a versatile color, so don’t be afraid to carry this lovely piece all the way through Fall. Trust me, it will definitely put a spring in your step! Or, if nothing else, it will add an unexpected splash to your Fall wardrobe!Discover Michael Kors at Saks Fifth Avenue! Not feeling the hot pink ostrich, check out the ultimate classic black or cinnamon brown versions available at ShopBop (retail for $100 less too)

Michael Kors Grayson

The Louis Vuitton “Speedy” has always been one of my favorite handbags. It’s perfect, classic and goes with just about anything wardrobe wise. One problem with the “Speedy” is that they are pricey especially if they come out in limited edition collections.Other designers have taken the design of the “Speedy” and put their own little touch or flare to it. One of those designers is Michael Kors. The MICHAEL Michael Kors “Grayson” is fabulous all on its own and is a fraction of the price of a Louis Vuitton “Speedy”.I actually saw the “Grayson” in person yesterday, and it was gorgeous! I loved that the handles weren’t stiff and that they could be adjusted to the length you wanted them to be. The bag was definitely spacious and I would consider it comparable to the “Speedy” 30 by Louis Vuitton. I also liked the bag much better in brown than in vanilla. What I like about the “Grayson” is that it’s just as classic as the “Speedy” and much more affordable. It’s the type of handbag you can use everyday out of the year and will never go out of style. Overall, it’s a beautiful bag and you definitely can’t beat the price! You can purchase the MICHAEL Michael Kors “Grayson” at Zappos for $298.

See by Chloe Joyrider Bag

Unfortunately, there are no enforced regulations on the amount of puff you can add to a handbag. Some fur pieces are absolutely striking and attractive, and then you have the ones that seem to be made out of the excess pelts from the good-looking ones. I always envisioned the brand of See by Chloe as the rebellious little sister of the French couture name of Chloe. So when See by Chloe presents fur for the winter collection, it’s done to the extremities that shock and distress. Why not just carry a fur muff for a much classier look? One thing for sure is that the Joyrider Shoulder Bag can hold your essentials as well as keep your hands warm throughout the evening. Before any anti-fur advocates respond, this piece is in fact made out of faux fur.Within the layers of fuzz you’ll find a zipper compartment that houses a depth of eleven inches, double-fluffed long handles, and extra patch pockets for gadgets inside. As if there wasn’t enough fluff going on in this piece, if you look close enough, you’ll spot a stuffed cotton sheep charm dangling off this unusual piece. There won’t be many of these pieces floating around at your local shopping destinations. For $295, you can add this uncommon winter wear to your collection via: Shopbop

Michael Kors Day Bag

Michael Kors is pretty much my favorite designer. I love almost everything he comes out with and he is the king of the black leather and gold hardware combination, which we all know is my favorite. When I was wandering around the mall today, I came across this Michael Kors Tote and I instantly fell in love with it. It reminded me of the Louis Vuitton Neverfull bags, just priced a lot more affordably and came in a variety of colors.Of course, I wanted to slap out my credit card and buy the tote in black but every color looked gorgeous in this bag. It has that classy, sophisticated look and would stunning with a variety of outfits. What I also loved about this tote, was how big it was in person! I could literally use this bag everyday but it would be a great travel bag too! Airplane restrictions are so annoying these days and I could easily carry all my essentials, food, jacket and lap top in this tote. It’s that big! It really is a wonderful bag to have in your collection for those days you just have to carry everything in your room and more. For the price, the size is amazing! This tote is currently on my wish list and boy would I love it for Christmas! I highly recommend this bag to anyone that’s looking for a beautiful, classy and timeless bag to add to their collection. If you don’t believe me, check it out at the store for yourself. You will fall in love with it. Mark my word! You can purchase the Michael Kors Tote at Nordstrom for $278! What a steal! I need this bag!Shop the Michael Kors Boutique at Nordstrom!

CC Skye Leight Luxe Fringe Bag

CC Skye has always been on my hot list! This designer is always one step ahead of the latest trends, bringing us fresh new looks season after season. Her handbags are “edgy but elegant”, perfect for anyone looking for an upbeat style to lighten their mood. Not all CC Skye handbags feature fringe, but many have in the past. It has almost become a trademark. Plus I am a bit partial to fringe! So it really is no wonder I was drawn to the CC Skye Leight Luxe Fringe Bag!Somehow I knew this was a CC Skye handbag before I even saw the title/description. I just love all that fringe protruding from underneath the flap on the front! And how cool are those bead accents? The effect sort of reminds me of rain drops falling. It’s very calming and soothing in a weird sort of way. The fringe pairs nicely with the overall style of this bag, which is slouchy and messenger-like in appearance. The shoulder strap is also pretty cool. I was studying it pretty closely. In the picture, it is a long crossbody length. However, it looks like the buckles may be functional meaning an entire side could potentially be removed. This would theoretically create a nice shoulder bag as well. I would love to see this bag in person to get the full scope of its functionality!Discover the CC Skye Leight Luxe Fringe Bag!

Rebecca Minkoff Desire Satchel Bag

Man, I feel like every week I’m bringing you another piece from Rebecca Minkoff! This has practically turned into “Marissa’s weekly Rebecca Minkoff pick”. Each week I write about another fabulous piece Mrs. Minkoff has designed and this week is no different. Today I bring you, the “Desire” Satchel with Woven Trim. It’s classy, gorgeous and sophisticated. I love the Balenciaga “City” bags but I’ve never been able to purchase one. The “Desire” kind of reminds me of the “City” bag, but with more of fabulous vibe to it. Plus, the price makes me like it a whole lot better! From the style, to the structure all the way to the colors, I really love everything about the “Desire”. The flap zip front even reminds me of one of my favorite bags of all time, the “Morning After” which is also by the amazing Rebecca Minkoff. I really dig the two-tone color scheme of it because it gives anyone the option to wear it with multiple outfits. The black gives someone the ability to match it with a number of black outfits and the almond matches well with denim. I can even envision someone carrying it to their office while wearing one of their most stunning suits!I’m always a fan of handbags with versatility and the “Desire” gets an A+ from me!You can purchase the Rebecca Minkoff “Desire” Satchel with Woven Trim at Shop Bop for $495.

Alexander McQueen Woven Skull Clutch

The Alexander McQueen Skull Clutch will forever be an iconic piece. It has been reinvented again and again. There are so many variations out there! So it really is no wonder we write about this clutch all the time. Well I spotted another one that really caught my eye and I just had to share it with all of you. Introducing the Alexander McQueen Woven Skull Clutch! This is a very interesting looking piece! It’s crazy how something so simple can also be so intricate at the same time. The exterior is cleanly wrapped in smooth black leather. Encasing this clutch is a net made of leather piping that has been woven together. The pattern starts with a circle that has been centered on the front/back of the clutch and it expands outward. The pattern reminds me of a spiderweb. Considering this is Alexander McQueen, a spiderweb would be fitting. As always, this Skull Clutch is topped with a skull clasp. This one happens to be gold tone with black crystals encrusting the eyes and mouth. This clutch also comes with an optional leather shoulder strap. It adds some versatility to this piece, which you don’t see too often with these clutches.Discover the Alexander McQueen at Net-A-Porter!

Botkier Bags for Spring 2012

Whether or not I’ve experienced a mild or harsh winter, I am always, always, always (get the point?) so ready to see some vibrant, fresh and even soft colors for Spring. Just give me color!Botkier’s 2012 product line gives us everything we need to start and finish the season with fresh styles and colors in addition to tried and true black and brown. A more restrained use of hardware like zippers, tassels and and metal trims compliment beautifully shaped bags in so many styles, it will make your head spin. Colorblocking is used in ways that compliment the shape and style of the bags too. Clutches, hobos, satchels reign supreme. If you need a satchel, it’s going to be very hard to choose. I already have my eye on several favorites! The Leon small satchel in Garden green with a tiny pop of cobalt blue is a great choice for Spring & Summer. It’s lady like shape isn’t redundant with everything else on the market. A top handle and shoulder strap make it convenient. This bag may end up being your go to daytime bag. It’s lady like with a little bit of a pop! Also available in a hobo and satchel version with shades of persimmon, noir and tobacco. The Eden hobo in nude with dove gray handles is soft and understated. I can see myself carrying it everyday. I love a great hobo and it’s soft colorway put me in a peaceful frame of mind. On the other hand, the Medley version in Ocean blue with Plum handles is everything but calm. Bold and bright, this bag has an outgoing personality! The Phoenix satchel in nude cowhide is another beautiful bag that’s soft shade is easy on the eye. I love the soft structure of this satchel and would love to carry it daily….Do you get the theme here? For evening (or day!) though I’d have to grab the Phoenix clutch, but can’t decide between the noir with a pop of ocean blue or the lavendar lizard calfskin with a pop or red!The Valentina shoulder, hobo and satchel bags in mint, dove, blush and noir bags are divine! Soft structure. Beautiful rolled handles, shoulder straps with touches of gold hardware are the perfect touch of sophistication. The Misha is a more structured and modern line with mixed materials including cowhide, rubberized cowhide, snake lambskin and metals provide touch of colorblocking and clean geometrics that will complement any modern girl! Bold colors of ocean, cinnamon, and noir will definitely pop against your wardrobe. The Nicola tote, satchel and clutch in vibrant shades of cardinal, cognac and noir are bold colors that will take you year round. Lightly glazed cowhide with a tiny touch of silver metal offer a more polished personality.I’m dying for the Turner I-Pad case with it’s touch of red against a dove and cream goatskin with edgy zippers is fashion forward and says you’re at the leading edge of technology. The satchel and weekenders utilize color blocking and Botkier’s iconic zippers that is modern soft and sophisticated in the dove, mint and desert. While the black is edgy and sharp!STELLA!!! I am loving the modern styling of the Stella tote and clutch with zipper details as edging, just the right pops of color. The solid ocean blue tote is striking while the white bag with ocean blue or black with white details gives me a thrill. And for the girly girl in all of us, the pretty coral tote is just what we need to express it!I’d say Botkier has an amazing line up this Spring with so much you’ll want to go out and touch and see! Chanel White Patent 2.55 Resort ’06-07

This Nuti clutch in ostrich is absolutely to die for!  Ostrich is big these days, it is taking over croc and we are so loving it!!  The skin is so much softer and the texture makes for that tonal interest you don’t get with other skins.  This clutch is sheer perfection from the signature ruthium ring, the fabulous shape, the sublime detail of every stitch to the baby soft suede lining that makes you want to crawl inside and take a nap.    We love clutches for day and this is THE greatest all day clutch out there.  Although great for formal occassions as well, it is big enough for daytime essentials like wallet, phone and cosmetics.  Sometimes, it is so liberating to be free of your 10 pound bag.  Measures 10″ w X 5 1/2 L x 2″ deep and comes with a detachable shoulder strap.  Available at LuxCouture for $1225.

Dear Bag Snob,I want a white bag for winter but have not seen anything FAB, have you? Thanks,MelanieChanel 2.55 in white patent leatherHi Melanie!I just bought the most fabulous white patent Chanel 2.55 bag with gunmetal hardware yesterday at Chanel in Highland Park. It’s from the resort collection and just arrived in boutiques this week.  It is the perfect shade of creamy white and will be my constant accessory in Vail this month.  Quantities are limited so call your Chanel boutique now!  There is also a pair of matching quilted cork platforms in white or black patent that is to die for.  I love the ’60s mod vibe of white patent leather, think Audrey Hepburn driving her little convertible in “Two for the Road” with her white glasses and matching white patent accessories, tres chic!Love,Bag Snob

Marc’s Saving Grace

This is in no way an apology for the fashion atrocities Marc Jacobs has committed of late but if nothing else, we are honest and we are fashion addicts so when we see something we like, we allow ourselves to flip flop =)  But you have to see our point here, I mean, how cute is this mini Stam in blush metallic?  We always did like the Stam so a baby version in pink?  That’s an easy one for us.  This will be uber fantastically adorable with all the great dresses coming out for Spring and Summer.  We are seeing a lot of this pale metallic pink and it’s a sure trend for Spring (Chloe did it for Resort with the Paddington and if we didn’t already own 3 of them and if only they did it LAST year, it might be sitting in my closet right now).  The other bag we are loving from the Spring line is the Tanya.  The scrunchy straps and outer pockets is a tad bit Miu Miu but most definitely has the distinguishing style of Marc Jacobs.   Not to sound like I’m flipping yet again, but this bag is not something fashion mavens will go on about, it is just a delightful and charming bag that we are happy to see coming from Marc.  Marc Jacobs spring line will be available at Net-a-Porter in February.

To Chanel or not to Chanel

Chanel addicts be warned, the latest line from the House of Coco is irresistable and may cause you to max out your credit cards.  Chanel “New Lock” bag available in 3 sizes in black or whiteI was about to jump on the treadmill at my gym yesterday when a woman approached me and introduced herself as a fellow Bag Snob in need of advice.  As I jogged away the pizza, cookies, and ice cream I had the night before (life with a toddler, what can I say?) I listened to her tale and her cry for help.  Apparently she is addicted to bags and shoes (sound familiar?) and has purchased three Chanel bags (blue, brown, and purple) in the last month and could not decide whether or not to return the last purchase(the purple version is similar to the bag pictured above).  She also thought of selling the brown one to a friend but couldn’t bear to part with it.  Her friends have all advised her to take it back but my advice was to keep it if she really loves it and will use it often BUT don’t buy another bag for the next 6 months.  Or she should return the one that she will use the least. While it’s true that Chanel bags are classics and will be treasured for a lifetime, we really don’t feel it is necessary to buy a dozen each season.  One nice classic bag per season is sufficient for any collection (even ours!).  She also told me she can not resist the urge to buy buy buy when she sees new bags in magazines or online (especially if she finds out it’s hard to get or if it is a limited edition-it’s the hunt that is thrilling for her.  We’re all just animals aren’t we?).  Which made me think, are we encouraging shop-a-holics to buy without abandon?  Or are we making a positive contribution to the US economy?  As I ponder these questions, I ask you, “To Chanel or not to Chanel”?  Should she keep the bag?

Stella McCartney Wobro Canvas Bag

This incredibly cool gold metallic woven canvas bag from Stella McCartney will make PETA activists whip out their credit cards faster than you can say vegetarian.  We’re usually not very PC but this is the cutest attempt at a canvas bag we’ve ever seen!  Kudos to Stella for her animal lovin’ sensibilities and artistic creativity.  I love that she attached an interior mini pouch for your lipgloss or keys so you can stay organized.  10×16 is a bit bigger than what I am used to but it would be great on Kelly or anyone above average height.  $595 at Net-a-porterWear the Wobro canvas bag with Stella McCartney’s sexy chic brown washed silk halter dress and you’ll be stylin’ all season long.  The bubble hem continues strong for spring and in silk the volume is lighter and more wearable (I love how bubble hems make your legs look so skinny).  I also love the bow on the lapel, very chic.  $1,195 at Net a porter.

Bag Snob in Taiwanese newspaper: Eastern Times

It took arctic winds sweeping through New York city for Lindsay Lohan to cover up her overexposed body.  We actually think she looks nice while shopping in the Meat Packing district last week.  We also love the blush pink metallic bag she is sporting.  The first person to name her bag will receive a super cool “Bag Hook” engraved with Bag Snob to identify you as one of us    We’ve been hanging our birkins all over New York city with this very useful hook.  Leave your answer in comments, our system will clock you so you don’t have to worry about cheaters stealing your answer.  WE’RE HAVING SUCH OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO THE QUIZ, WE’VE DECIDED TO GIVE AWAY 5 OF THE HOOKS!  I will start posting the comments once the first 5 have responded correctly.CONGRATULATIONS TO Erika, Rachel, Rachel, Kerrie, and Shopdiary for being the first to answer correctly!  Your Bag Snob bag hooks will be on it’s way to you shortly~

Taiwan’s Eastern Times newspaper re-printed our article on the LV Tribute Patchwork bag last week, causing our traffic to more than double.  No surprise that there are lots of Bag Snobs in Taiwan, where the Bag Snob girls were born.  Of all the press we’ve received to date, getting a shoutout from the motherland has made us most proud!   We are very excited to have so many new Taiwanese readers- welcome!

Pimp your Maserati with Ferragamo custom bags!

Fast cars and lux bags are de rigeur for the modern woman, so it makes sense that Ferragmo would create a set of bags retrofitted for your new Maserati.  The travel set will include suitcase, weekender, garment bag, beauty case, and shoe case/duffle bag, all to perfectly fit inside the trunk of the new Maserati.  The design is inspired by the car’s front radiator Ferragamo’s men’s wear designer, Massimiliano Giornetti.  The custom made set will be available in two materials: The Firenze-hand treated calf in blackamoor or Maserati’s iconic blue ($9,621 for 5 piece set) or The Modena- scratch resisitant calf hide in black or eggplant with contrasting stitches ($8,966 for 5 piece set)You’ll be able to order the complete set or any number of pieces, which takes 3 months to complete.  The car, $150,000, will be available at Maserati dealerships around the world and the bags will also be available through Ferrgamo flagship stores.  The idea of having a set of luggage to perfectly fit in my trunk is very appealing but I wish they’d do it with the Range Rover cuz there’s no way I’m giving up my big car.Source: WWD

Barneys New York Bags

Left: Barneys’ Carryall $488   Right:  Barneys’ Classic Computer Bag: $525My favorite department store on earth has it’s own private label brand of products that are as luxurious as the designer brands they’re displayed next to.  I’m serious, I am a proud new owner of a Barneys’ Computer bag made of Fjord leather, which is supple and reminds me of Hermes leather.  I showed it to my friend who is an Hermes collector and she said, “When did Hermes start making computer bags?”  Yes, that’s how nice it is.  But beyond the gorgeous leather, the details in stitching is also incredibly well made.  There is a complete line of bags from totes to evening bags priced way below it’s designer counterparts but they look just as nice (if not better in some cases)!  In the Bag Snob age of anti-logo reverse snobbery, only you will have the satisfaction of knowing what your bag cost    Go check it out for yourself.  Barneys New York Bags online.Left: Satin bag by Barneys New York: $485  Right: Resin handle bag $650

Tod’s Treccia Bag

I am loving all the colors for Fall!  Purple is making a huge scene, as with of course blue and green.  This Henry Beguelin hobo is casual but stylish, the pin tuck details totally make the bag without being overdone.  The woven handle looks like a Gryson and is a little played out but the contrasting color of it is a nice feature that raised my brows in interest when I first looked at it.  Every bag has to have something to catch my eye and you never know what it’s going to be.  Someone had commented that the Bag Snobs cannot be figured out.  Well, it’s not like we have a formula for what we do, I mean, we are highly emotional and irrational (aren’t all girls?) so even we have no idea what is going to make us love or hate something.  Our poor poor husbands.  Luckily they both know how we are and shrug off our irrational behavior.  I admit, my husband is an angel (this is called greasing the wheels for Fall credit card bills, he doesn’t stop me from buying but who wants to hear squeaking and whining?  When is he going to stop asking, “How many bags do you need?”  There is no real answer to that!  Besides, I just cleared out a huge opening in my closet for new bags.).  The Polly hobo at Neiman Marcus for $1235.

You know we adore Tod’s but the Treccia bag from its Fall collection is ugly and creepy.  Those giant buckles look like Alien googly eyes staring at me and no matter which way I turn, they follows me.  That’s not the only thing hideous about this bag though, the shape is old and frumpy and the braided handles look like a last minute attempt to salvage this bag.  It’s like someone had enough sense in the design process to say “holy shit, this is a piece of crap, let’s at least add braided handles so it will look Bottega-ish”  Nice try but this don’t fly.  And that dangling logo tag is a departure from its usual subtle logo placement, a huge thumbs down from the Bag Snob.   Did I mention it is monstrously large?  Can’t even imagine how heavy this must be.  It comes in dark pukey grey or shiny black.  Tod’s Treccia Bag at eLuxury- $1,490.

Bag Snob Pop Qui

Heidi Klum has been toting this bag around NYC.  Look how good she looks, hello!!  Three kids!!!  You either love her or hate her.  I know she looks a little pissed off here but I love the bright yellow shirt she is wearing with the gold accessories and her wind swept pulled back hair is effortlessly chic.  I totally love her and can’t wait for the new Project Runway to start (although some of the stuff she wears on the show is questionable).  We love her so much our Pop Quiz this weeks is extra special.   If you are the first to guess what bag Heidi is seen with here you will receive a wristlet from the designer (shown above).  I know our bag hooks are awesome but a wristlet is WAYYY awesome.  That is why I picked this picture instead of the full frontal shot I have of the bag.  Our readers are just too good at this so we are trying to make it as hard as possible =)  Please leave your answers in the comments and you must include your email address or your answer will not count.

Dearest Bag Snob (hello Tina and Kelly!),I just bought my first designer bag ever, the Lanvin Heroine in chestnut, which was massively on sale at Barneys and which I love love love and seems to match everything. Only problem is, I have discovered a mere drop of water will stain it. So what can I do — other than carry a plastic bag everywhere in case it rains? That wouldn’t be very elegant. Should I waterproof it? Ask at Barneys? Email Lanvin? Your advice would be very welcome. Thank you!A Friend at WWDHi Friend,So nice to hear from you!  Am excited about your new Lanvin bag, sounds gorgeous.  I would take it to a leather specialist or shoe cobbler and have it treated.   I do that with my most treasured bags and a first designer bag (especially a Lanvin!) deserves to be pampered!Love,Bag Snobp.s.(We love WWD and read it everyday!)Dear Bag Snob,Marvelous, I will do just that. Thank you so much for the excellent advice.Hope you guys are doing great. I really enjoy reading Bagsnob. Your judgmentis spot-on.A Friend at WWD.

Chanel Shiny Alligator

I am officially back from maternity leave!  I of course have been keeping up on the great job Tina has been doing and her obsession with exotic is contagious!  The first thing that caught my eye after having a baby is this Chanel Alligator tote in light green and thought that maybe I will reward myself for making a baby but then I find out that it is $39,500!!  Chanel has been threatening to raise their prices on exotics for a while now and Tina and I kinda just thought it was a sales tactic to get us to buy on the spot but they’ve done it.  And not only have they raised the prices, I feel like their skins are sub-par these days.  I saw a 2.55 alligator recently that had really giant scales which in my opinion is not as nice, the size of the scales need to be proportionate to the bag.  I would think it would be easier to get smaller alligators but this tote also has large scales and that also makes me hesitate.  I saw the most beautiful blue flap bag at Chanel a few months ago for $15,000 (given it was smaller than this tote) which made sense but at $39,500 I would rather wait for a Birkin for $30,000 and is far and away a better investment than this bag.  This alligator tote has not delivered yet but you can call Chanel at 800-550-0005 and they will have whichever store that gets it call you when it arrives.

Bottega Veneta Crocodile Luxanil

$5,900 Pre-order at Saks Fifth AvenueOnce again Bottega is making my heart flutter with an exquisitely crafted handbag.  It being a crocodile bag makes it even more snobulous; and the unique double handles make it a Bag Snob museum worthy piece with a modern twist!  The double handles are ergonomically designed so that when you carry it on the crook of your arm, it will sit flat against you, allowing the world to view this gorgeous bag!   It also adds a bit of quirkiness to the bag which will appeal to our Snobs who are young enough to appreciate edgy fun but old enough for classic looks.  I love the classic shape of the Luxanil, it would work for Bag Snobs of all ages.  Whether you are a young snob who appreciates true luxury or a well seasoned snob looking for another great bag to add to your collection, the Bottega cocodile Luxanil is the one to snatch up!   I can not believe it is only $5,900, any crocodile bag measuring almost 10 inches wide is at least $10,000, especially from a luxurious design house like Bottega.  Bottega Veneta available at Saks.

Lanvin Ontario Messenger

Dear Bag Snob,I am a young University Professor, I am looking for a bag that will carry all of my books and papers while still looking fierce. I don’t want to look too young with a backpack, or too aged with a briefcase. What do you recommend? Thanks!ShawnaDear Shawna,Now that everyone is gearing up to go back to school, we have been getting a lot of questions about the perfect bag for students, as well as professors like yourself.  You are absolutely right, who in their right mind would show up post high school with a backpack?   And unless you are wearing a tweed coat with leather elbow patches, you should not even own a briefcase!!  We of course have the perfect bag for you and it’s from one of our favorite designers, Lanvin.  This suede messenger is super functional and is as fierce as they come without being overly frivolous and fussy for campus life.  The flap closure makes your life easier and the short strap keeps you from looking like an actual messenger.  In fact, the length of the strap is what makes this bag for me.  The obvious thing to do would be to make this into a over the shoulder bag, but you lose the chic, on-the-go style.  The size is great for books and papers at 15″ x 19″, not so big that it would topple you but adequate for most books (at least the ones that I read =)  You can get it at Barneys for $1380.Love,The Bag Snob

Poppie Couture for Fall

Our favorite foldover clutches by darling Poppie Harris of Poppie Couture are now available in an array of Fall shades and skins!  The best one is the exotic stingray in metallic, its glittery glamour is so chic for all occasions this season!  Seen on celebs who buy the bags by the dozen, Poppie’s delectable clutches are now available at Bergdorf Goodman.  I love her bags for their versatility, a big clutch seamlessly takes me from lunch to cocktails and they are just so stylish!  They are also amazingly easy to travel with as they pack flat and are extremely lightweight which is the new criteria for my travel items.  (I am obsessed with changing my old habits of traveling with multiple bags and am determined to downscale to a carry on bag since the airlines can not be trusted with luggage!  Well it’s that or convince my husband I need a private jet in order to properly transport my bags and shoes.)  You must go check out her collection at Bergdorf Goodman or puchase directly from her site. Metallic stingray foldover clutch $650.

Travel Smart with Valextra Vanity Case

$2,670 at Barneys New York, call Meeghan for details!  469-221-4727After almost two weeks in New York I was more than ready to return home.  I packed up my son, hubby and nanny and headed to the airport only to be told while sitting on the plane that our plane had a “fuel leak” which required a part that they may or may not have and may or may not be able to fix even if they had the part.  Everyone was told to stay in their seats until further notice but I am not one to take directions well so despite my husband’s protests (he hates breaking rules and causing a scene) I round up my brood and took off, knocking down flight attendants who dared to stand in my way. Unfortunately, my luggage was not so lucky, they couldn’t keep me on the flight but they kept my bags which went on to Dallas without me at midnight, 8 hours after our original departure time.  I booked a flight for the next day, went back to the city, had dinner with my family and went to bed early.  My point of this long tale?  Thank god for travel size cosmetics and thank god for vanity cases!   (more photos after the jump!)Valextra has hands down the most fabulous vanity cases on the market.  We all obsessed over the white one but now they are offering a delicious orange shade in sturdy grain leather for Fall.  Orange is the perfect color for the practical snob who does not have access to a private jet nor travel butler (our friend has one and let me tell you, a travel butler is the way to go!) but still wants to travel in high style.  Less likely to stain or scuff, it is also great for weekend trips by car or boat (or in my case, as a spa/gym bag so I can have all my necessities at my fingertips.  Is that high maintenance?  You obviously have not spent time with me.).  Size 12″ x 7.8″ x 7.4″$2,670 at Barneys New York, call Meeghan for details!

Michael Kors Spring 2008

Michael Kors proves once again why he is a favorite amongst celebs and social girls with a crowd pleasing collection of sexy and chic clothes. “The juxtaposition of romance and athleticism….strident sexy American style with a sporty edge… sleek sunkissed glamour” is what Michael Kors strove for and he did it with perfection. I loved the sleek dresses and easy pullovers, all items I must have in my closet immediately! And the bags, the best bag collection he’s shown yet! Oversized and glittering, fab little clutches with hand straps, it all worked flawlessly.Bag Snob Picks: Flamingo Crystal Jersey Dance Dress, Black Crystal Jersey Halter Jumpsuit, Guava/Apricot Silk Chiffon Jersey Empire Gown, Lime Cashmere Lurex Pullover with Flamingo Silk Lame Pleated Skirt.Color Palette: Warm tones of Flamingo, Iris, Sunshine, Tangerine, Lime, Crisp Navy, Black and Khaki with bold punctuations of White.

Louis Vuitton Olympe Nimbus GM

I saw a Louis Vuitton bag today that didn’t make me cringe, in fact, it was really cute!  One of my book club girlfriends got a shimmering pearl gray Olympe Nimbus bag for Christmas and though I have seen it in print and on other sites all season I really did not give it much thought because you all know I am not a LV fan.  In person, however, the bag is truly adorable.  Soft and plushy , it is lightweight and curved so it fits perfectly against the body.  The shoulder strap had seemed bulky to me in photos but it is actually flat on the bottom so it hangs on your shoulder securely without any slip and slide annoyance!  The logos are not prominent and being ruched, you can’t even tell it says LV unless you are a die hard trendoid fashionista that can spot and name a Louis Vuitton bag from a mile away.  Even the subtle ruffles are girly and fun, not obnoxious at all.  There is also the PM (petite size around 12″) if you are not into giant bags as the GM is 19.7″.I can’t believe I am actually gushing about a Louis Vuittong bag…   And before you rag on it, go hug it at a Louis Vuitton boutique- one stroke of the the buttery soft leather and you will want to adopt it too.  $2,550 As a side note, my book club should really be renamed the “Bag” club.  I think we spent all of 5 minutes discussing the book of the month (Ken Follet’s Pillars of the Earth) and what was said was “Who knew it was 900 pages?”  “It’s full of really difficult words you know.”  “We’re going to need a dictionary to finish the book.”  “It may take all year.”  “That is if we are smart enough to actually finish.”  After that, most of our lunch was devoted to the groovy bags everyone had.  Let’s see, Christine is the lucky girl with the LV Olympe above, Julie carried a lovely turquoise Hermes Kelly in 25cm, Kim (a total Bag Snob herself) toted a new 25cm Hermes birkin in etoupe lizard (can you say jealous!?!?), sweet Janet sported a monogrammed Goyard and I can not remember what Robin had but I am sure it was Chanel and fabulous.

Congratulations! Vivre Sweepstakes Winner

UPDATE: Congratulations to Melody L. of Berkeley Calif!  The answer is D&G Allyson Bag!  Thanks for playing everyone!Hilary Duff is one of the few young actresses in Hollywood who do not irritate me.  She’s always cute and she has great bags.  So she is accused of an occasional lip syncing but if that is the worst crime she’s committed, it’s okay!  I mean Madonna lip syncs and look how long she’s been around.  So, we have a fun pop quiz for you with a nice little prize.  Tell us, what bag is Hilary totin’?  Give us the Designer and the Bag name to win.  We will take all the correct answers and do a random drawing to give everyone a fair chance.  Quiz will end on Friday, Jan. 18th at 11:59pm EST.  Winner will be announced over the weekend.  All International readers welcome to participate!.  Leave your answer in comments! So what’s the prize?  This fabulous Devi Kroell Coin Purse/Key chain in metallic gold python, a $90 retail value!

R&Y Augousti Python Hobo

What is up with python this week you ask?  Well, that is what they are selling these days and we have no control over it but I have to say, it is amazing!!  R&Y Augousti is known for their exotic and unusual use of materials – they are not afraid of the wrath of PETA!  I used to have a hard time with snake that looks like snake but you have to try it on with your clothes and you will see how beautiful it is and not scary at all.  The varying shades and gradation of natural python matches with practically everything.  What else would you be able to wear with white, brown, black AND all other colors?  Can you imagine how amazing this will look with something blue?  I just listed all the colors of my closet but as you can see, this will go with any wardrobe.  The clean shape with patched corners is impeccably stylish and uncluttered for the perfect all around bag.  The hardware is reminiscent of the YSL muse hardware but I don’t mind, the rest of the bag looks nothing like YSL. The slightly padded strap in leather makes this super comfortable so that you can and will use it everyday.  $1840 at Barneys New York.

Here is a recent article from The Globe and Mail- Canada’s National Newspaper. Thanks for the love!

I am all about the Doheny clutch from Oscar lately.  My white one in crackled patent leather is lightweight and easy to use- especially the magnetic flap which allows me to get in and out of my bag effortlessly, I find myself constantly grabbing it before I head out for lunch or dinner!  It’s so liberating to have a big ol’ clutch to hold my PDA cell, camera (you never know when I need a shot for Bag Snob), wallet, make up bag, etc etc.  I just love the silhouette of an oversized clutch with a suit or jeans in the day or with a cocktail dress in the evening, it’s an unexpected proportion that looks modern and stylish.  You have no idea how often I am stopped by passing strangers who ask “who made that clutch!?!??”  The Doheny is free of logo but heavy on style, in other words, simply chic!  I was in the Oscar boutique the other day (my new home away from home- there are eight boutiques in the US, you must go to one near you.  Just hang out like I do and play with all the clothes, bags, shoes, jewels and home accessories- I promise you will become addicted!) and saw the latest incarnations of the Doheny- named after a street in LA when the Melrose boutique opened.  For Summer, the Doheny gets punched up in a juicy orange ostrich ($3,495) and a stucco crackled patent leather ($995), both are great colors to add to your bag wardrobe.  I am partial to the nude “stucco” shade, it’s the perfect complement to the bright blue Oscar bubble dress I am currently obsessed with.  Spring ready to wear is all about bold fun color and you’ll need a neutral to set it all off!  Call Mindy at 214-346-0400 to order.  More photos after the jump!Left: Stucco patent leather $995 Right: Oscar Bubble Dress $2,895Orange ostrich $3,495  14.5″x7″We also love the Doheny shoulder bag in stucco crackled patent leather ($1,795), it has the same style as the clutch but with straps that have just a small touch of modern chain detail. 13″x7″

Tragedy Struck My Chanel Wallet

Or more precisely, nail polish remover struck it.  I got this horrific picture from a reader, Linh, her niece spilled nail polish remover on her Chanel wallet and needless to say, she is devastated.  Linh came to us for help and luckily there is hope.  One of the biggest draws with buying from big major designers like Chanel is that they have an internal repair service with specialists that they call “Leather Surgeons” (I’m not making that up, it is their official title).  If you are faced with a bag disaster, you need to send it back to the Chanel Boutique you bought it from (even if you did not buy it from their boutique, find the closest one to you and send it there.  Neiman Marcus will not be able to help you).  Once the leather surgeon takes a look, he will be able to tell you what he can do and how much it will be.  There are options with damage like the one here with nail polish remover that has bleached the leather.  Depending on the saturation level, if it is just surface damage, it is salvageable, if it is soaked through the leather, there may not be anything they can do.  They can use the original dye and redye it black (if you have beige leather, your only option would be to go black).  This could cost anywhere from $200-$500, but keep in mind a new Chanel wallet is only a few hundred more so it may not be worth it.  The turnaround for repairs is around 8 weeks.  We hope nothing like this happens to your Chanel bag, but if you need additional information or you do not know where to send your sick bags, contact the Managing Director of the Highland Park boutique.

Chanel White Caviar Leather Tote

I have been getting a lot of emails asking me about the perfect classic bag, the ONE bag to get this season and I know it seems obvious but my choice is this Chanel.  In caviar leather (also comes in black) it is the most practical of all the leathers from Chanel, the textured surface is scratch resistant and easy to care for which means it will last as long as classics should last for – forever!  Whether you are a mom, an office warrior or gal of leisure, you can use a bag like this.  With roomy pockets that add to the youthfulness of the style, it is fashion meets function at its perfection!  I prefer the updated look of the stitched in quilt pattern rather than the actual puffy quilting.  I am not your typical Chanel customer, I don’t wear Chanel jackets, my look is young and casual, that is why this bag is so appealing, this will take me from jeans to my nicest dresses (that’s pretty much my range since I no longer wear suits, I used to love pant suits and wanted an office job just so I can wear them.  I now realize how ridiculous that is!).  But my point is, this is one of those bags that will be amazing on anyone – a classic you will cherish and rely on for as long as women continue to covet lovely bags =)  $3,875 at your Chanel boutique

Bruno Frisoni Patent Frame

I am a huge fan of Bruno Frisoni shoes, and it looks like the love has spread to bags as well.  (I am hunting down these peep toes with the thick slingback in my size, ultra comfy and oh-so-lovely!)  So, I saw this taupey-grey patent frame at Fred Segal yesterday and was so mesmerized by how different it is–and bursting with style and character! I love the red frame contrast; it sets off the bag perfectly! This also comes in a turquoise with red frame, but that color combination is almost too cartoonish and totally unusable. With this bag, you can wear the most boring plain thing and still be caught turning heads left and right. The straps are long enough to fit comfortably under the arm (it fits under mine, so will fit under most) which is good because you need to distribute the weight of this bag. I am so spoiled by light bags that I now have a hard time with anything that weighs more than a feather. This bag has a gorgeous silver metallic lining. It is always delightful to find the inside of the bag as nice as the outside, but with a leather lining, you pay for it, with your muscle and moola. This bag is a bit pricey for what it is at $1995, but is selling like crazy. Girls who suffer for fashion will find this one is totally worth it!! Call Fred Segal Santa Monica, 310-394-9814–there are only a couple left.
