Stella McCartney Wobro Canvas Bag

This incredibly cool gold metallic woven canvas bag from Stella McCartney will make PETA activists whip out their credit cards faster than you can say vegetarian.  We’re usually not very PC but this is the cutest attempt at a canvas bag we’ve ever seen!  Kudos to Stella for her animal lovin’ sensibilities and artistic creativity.  I love that she attached an interior mini pouch for your lipgloss or keys so you can stay organized.  10×16 is a bit bigger than what I am used to but it would be great on Kelly or anyone above average height.  $595 at Net-a-porterWear the Wobro canvas bag with Stella McCartney’s sexy chic brown washed silk halter dress and you’ll be stylin’ all season long.  The bubble hem continues strong for spring and in silk the volume is lighter and more wearable (I love how bubble hems make your legs look so skinny).  I also love the bow on the lapel, very chic.  $1,195 at Net a porter.

Bag Snob in Taiwanese newspaper: Eastern Times

Taiwan’s Eastern Times newspaper re-printed our article on the LV Tribute Patchwork bag last week, causing our traffic to more than double.  No surprise that there are lots of Bag Snobs in Taiwan, where the Bag Snob girls were born.  Of all the press we’ve received to date, getting a shoutout from the motherland has made us most proud!   We are very excited to have so many new Taiwanese readers- welcome!

Pimp your Maserati with Ferragamo custom bags!

Fast cars and lux bags are de rigeur for the modern woman, so it makes sense that Ferragmo would create a set of bags retrofitted for your new Maserati.  The travel set will include suitcase, weekender, garment bag, beauty case, and shoe case/duffle bag, all to perfectly fit inside the trunk of the new Maserati.  The design is inspired by the car’s front radiator Ferragamo’s men’s wear designer, Massimiliano Giornetti.  The custom made set will be available in two materials: The Firenze-hand treated calf in blackamoor or Maserati’s iconic blue ($9,621 for 5 piece set) or The Modena- scratch resisitant calf hide in black or eggplant with contrasting stitches ($8,966 for 5 piece set)You’ll be able to order the complete set or any number of pieces, which takes 3 months to complete.  The car, $150,000, will be available at Maserati dealerships around the world and the bags will also be available through Ferrgamo flagship stores.  The idea of having a set of luggage to perfectly fit in my trunk is very appealing but I wish they’d do it with the Range Rover cuz there’s no way I’m giving up my big car.Source: WWD

Tod’s Treccia Bag

I am loving all the colors for Fall!  Purple is making a huge scene, as with of course blue and green.  This Henry Beguelin hobo is casual but stylish, the pin tuck details totally make the bag without being overdone.  The woven handle looks like a Gryson and is a little played out but the contrasting color of it is a nice feature that raised my brows in interest when I first looked at it.  Every bag has to have something to catch my eye and you never know what it’s going to be.  Someone had commented that the Bag Snobs cannot be figured out.  Well, it’s not like we have a formula for what we do, I mean, we are highly emotional and irrational (aren’t all girls?) so even we have no idea what is going to make us love or hate something.  Our poor poor husbands.  Luckily they both know how we are and shrug off our irrational behavior.  I admit, my husband is an angel (this is called greasing the wheels for Fall credit card bills, he doesn’t stop me from buying but who wants to hear squeaking and whining?  When is he going to stop asking, “How many bags do you need?”  There is no real answer to that!  Besides, I just cleared out a huge opening in my closet for new bags.).  The Polly hobo at Neiman Marcus for $1235.

 

You know we adore Tod’s but the Treccia bag from its Fall collection is ugly and creepy.  Those giant buckles look like Alien googly eyes staring at me and no matter which way I turn, they follows me.  That’s not the only thing hideous about this bag though, the shape is old and frumpy and the braided handles look like a last minute attempt to salvage this bag.  It’s like someone had enough sense in the design process to say “holy shit, this is a piece of crap, let’s at least add braided handles so it will look Bottega-ish”  Nice try but this don’t fly.  And that dangling logo tag is a departure from its usual subtle logo placement, a huge thumbs down from the Bag Snob.   Did I mention it is monstrously large?  Can’t even imagine how heavy this must be.  It comes in dark pukey grey or shiny black.  Tod’s Treccia Bag at eLuxury- $1,490.
